A 46-year-old Douglas woman was arrested after two witnesses saw her allegedly having sex with a man outside the garage area of Walmart Supercenter. The alleged incident happened on September 1, 2025 at 3:37 p.m. A Douglas police officer received a public indecency call and headed to Walmart. When the officer arrived, the report says that the female, Elizabeth Harrell, 46, was still on the scene but her partner, allegedly a man named Michael, had left. On August 30, 2025, deputies arrested Amanda Womack, 41, on maintaining a disorderly house charges as a result of alleged party that taking place at her residence, 180 Clough Boulevard. The incident report states that an officer responded to a noise complaint call at the home. A 43-year-old Douglas man was arrested and jailed for allegedly stealing 21 transformers that belonged to Satilla REMC in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The suspect, Eric Hunter, 43, of Douglas, had allegedly taken the transformers and had them laying in his yard. An incident report states that on August 27, 2025, a deputy responded to 444 Island Drive in the Baymeadows community on a recovery of stolen items call. A house fire on Bobcat Trail east of Douglas claimed one life Thursday afternoon. Shortly after 2 p.m., Coffee County firefighters responded to a structure fire at a home on Bobcat Trail. Once it ignited, the fire spread quickly and it did not take long before house was fully involved. There were two people in the home when the fire erupted. One of the occupants was able to get out of the home. The other, however, was not. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. A traffic stop on an ATV in the Oak Park community on August 22, 2025, turned into an illegal drug investigation when officers discovered suspected methamphetamine on the driver. Around 11 a.m. on August 22, an officer was in Oak Park investigating another case when he saw a green ATV traveling on Maple Street. Around 1:30 p.m. on August 14, 2025, a Douglas police officer responded an East Bryan Street address in response an altercation of some kind. When the officer arrived, he found a different incident than had been reported. According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, the complainant, Suzie Leinaala Bertagnolli, 24, of Douglas, stated that two individuals had assaulted her. A 1 a.m. welfare check at a local RV park ended with a 38-year-old in jail on a variety of charges, including simple assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On August 14, 2025, a deputy responded to a Dreamland RV Park after a complainant reported that Paul Speakman Jr., 38, of Douglas, and a female had gotten into an argument. An early morning investigation at the Econo Lodge in Douglas landed a Broxton man in jail on illegal drug charges, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Around 4:30 a.m. on August 17, 2025, two deputies were at the hotel speaking with Billy Wayne McCullar, 56, of Broxton.
