Former NBA player and Douglas native Aaron Swinson visited City Hall on Friday, May 12, 2023. Isaac Swinson, a city code enforcement officer, is Aaron’s brother. Aaron stopped by City Hall to surprise his brother and visit with city staff. Aaron attended Brunswick High School and played at Auburn before landing with the Phoenix Suns. He played with Phoenix during the 1994-1995 season, playing in nine games and averaging 2.7 points, .9 rebounds, and .3 assists per game. A Douglas police officer arrested a 56-year-old Douglas man on drug charges following an incident that began at the Circle K on East Baker Highway. The officer reported that he was sitting at the old gas station adjacent to the Circle K around 1 a.m. on May 2, 2023. While he was there, he noticed a white 1992 Jeep Cherokee at one of the gas pumps at the Circle K. Timothy McClelland, 56, was standing at the pumps talking with several people. Coach Eldridge, who last served as a head coach in 2015 at Swainsboro High, has been named the head football coach of the Berrien County Rebels. Eldridge takes over for Tim Alligood, who led the Rebels to a 7-5 mark last season and the school’s first playoff win in 31 years.
