Corey Carelock, 23, who just pleaded guilty in Coffee County on theft by deception charges and received 10 years on probation, is back in jail on similar charges — this time in Arkansas. Several different news outlets in Brookland, Arkansas, have released stories describing what allegedly happened. The alleged incident goes back to April 2022, when a man in Brookland agreed to purchase equipment for $40,540 online from Carelock. On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, three men with illegal drugs and guns pulled into the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, two Fitzgerald Police Officers walked by the vehicle the three men were in. They smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. At Monday’s regular city commission, the commission announced the FY ’24 budget and conducted a public hearing for the proposed budget. The budget is currently $130,190,566. No one came forward during the public hearing and spoke for or against the proposed budget. The budget is available at City Hall should any citizens have any questions or concerns regarding the proposed budget. The commission will vote on the budget at the next meeting, which will be held on Thursday, June 29. A routine registration check led to the capture of a wanted fugitive from Utah. On the morning of June 4, a Douglas police officer ran a registration check on a vehicle. Information on the vehicle’s owner, Sunshine Eagle, 23, of Wray, showed an active warrant in Utah County, Utah. The vehicle pulled into the Walmart parking lot, where the officer made a traffic stop. Eagle was driving the vehicle. Officers contacted authorities in Utah County and they stated they wanted to place a hold on her. Eagle was placed under arrest and was transported…

Dr. Jeffery Silveira, a beloved local physician, passed away peacefully last night with his family by his side. Last month, Dr. Silveira suffered a major heart attack. While he survived the initial incident and fought a courageous battle to regain his health, he never fully recovered and had been hospitalized since. Halique Laron Jordan, Jr., 18, of Ocilla is being held in the Coffee County Jail on murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of Robert Wilcox, 26, of Ocilla. Last Wednesday, June 7, 2023, officers from the Ocilla Police Department responded to a gunshot victim call. According to a post on the Ocilla Police Department’s Facebook page, when officers arrived at the 400 block of North Roosevelt Street, they found the victim, Wilcox, in the yard unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The following day, Jordan was arrested in Cordele along with five others.…
