Dianna Lynn Arnold Rish, age 59, of Douglas, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. She was born on March 2nd, 1966 the daughter of the late Alton Arnold and the late Gloria Arnold. Dianne was always a little woman in stature with nothing being little about her. She was bold in a way most admired her for. She wasn’t just a firecracker but the whole stand. Coffee 4-H wants to congratulate Coffee High Graduate Jake Grantham for receiving the $1,000 Georgia Association of County Agricultural Agents (GACAAA) Agricultural Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded during the annual Georgia 4-H Achievement Scholarship Luncheon at Rock Eagle. Andrew Sawyer, President of GACAAA, UGA Extension Southeast Area Pecan Agent, and Coffee County native, presented Jake with the scholarship. Laurita C. Stout, former city resident, died on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Douglas, Georgia. Her husband, John D. Stout, died on June 27, 2002. Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary L. McDermott Sullivan. Laurita attended the former St. Joseph High School, graduating in 1959. On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the City of Douglas made a land donation around North Madison Avenue Park to the Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority to help fill local housing needs for victims of Hurricane Helene and to support workforce housing. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority officially deeded the donated property to The Hope Initiative at a closing, which was held at Mr. Jerome Adams’s law office. Fireworks are allowed from 10 AM to 9 PM, with an extended window on July 3-4 from 9 PM to 11:59 PM. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office launched a comprehensive investigation into serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving 28-year-old Juan Delgado. The allegations surfaced following a report filed in the early morning hours of June 10, 2025 concerning incidents that reportedly occurred over several years at a residence within the county. Deputies responded to a call involving a juvenile who disclosed past and recent instances of sexual abuse. During the initial stages of the investigation, the minor victim revealed that Delgado had assaulted her, with the abuse purportedly beginning when she was in the fifth grade and continuing through her teenage years.…
The GBI has arrested and charged Nicholls Police Department Chief Ashley Wilson, 40, of Broxton, with three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, and violation of oath of office. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate allegations of Wilson texting inappropriate messages to a 15-year-old girl from Nicholls. The text messages were discovered by the girl’s mother, who reported them to an officer with the Nicholls Police Department. The officer then reported the incident to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. The…
During the past week, the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit continued its efforts to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants. As a result of those efforts, agents located and arrested Tammara Droll and Dequavious Bryce. Both individuals were taken into custody on active felony probation warrants issued through the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Additionally, Bryce was found to have an active warrant out of Ware County. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit remains committed to holding offenders accountable and reducing criminal activity throughout Coffee County and surrounding areas.
