A package containing as much as $50,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized in a multi-agency operation in Jeff Davis County last week. According to a press release from the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Jeff Davis County drug investigators and deputies along with Appling County investigators, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security initiated a search warrant at a residence in Jeff Davis County following the delivery of a suspicious package. St. Andrew’s Anglican church celebrates 125 years of worship in Coffee County. The first services, according to the Anglican liturgy, were held by the Rev. J. W. Turner on September 11, 1899 in the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The final defendant in a massive drug trafficking organization has been convicted. Blake K. Screen, 36, of Brunswick, was found guilty on charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and to Distribute Methamphetamine and Fentanyl, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, said Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. Screen faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison, along with substantial financial penalties and a period of supervised release upon completion of any prison term. The City of Douglas has been awarded a Georgia Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for housing rehabilitation in the Pine Street target area. The grant totals $877,225. It all started at the end of May with a reward trip for students who participated in the District Project Achievement (DPA) public speaking contest.
