Known for his breathtaking images of nature and wildlife throughout Southeast and Coastal Georgia, Williams has gifted the hospital with a selection of his work to enhance the healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The City of Douglas has been awarded a Georgia Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for housing rehabilitation in the Pine Street target area. The grant totals $877,225. The grant will be used to rehab substandard owner occupied housing units of whom 100% are low to moderate income persons. “We are thankful to the Department of Community Affairs for their crucial role in providing grants that contribute to neighborhood revitalization and enable cities to improve aging infrastructure,” says Mayor Tony Paulk. “Community Development Block Grants are absolutely essential for making crucial infrastructure and housing improvements in Douglas.…
Coffee County 4-H had another busy summer full of activities. It all started at the end of May with a reward trip for students who participated in the District Project Achievement (DPA) public speaking contest. Sixteen Coffee County 4-H’ers grades 5-12 had the opportunity to spend the day tubing through Ichetucknee Springs in Florida. June was all about camp! Thirty-five 5th and 6th graders from Coffee County, along with the County Extension staff, spent the week attending Cloverleaf Camp at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. These employees were honored for their dedication, hard work, and leadership skills by the faculty and staff of the college. Coffee 4-H Alumni Nathan Cooper was a 4-H camp counselor at Camp Jekyll this year.
