On a picturesque Friday morning, the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce gathered to celebrate a significant milestone at Still Waters Outreach, a longstanding community partner. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the introduction of new leadership, bringing fresh energy and commitment to the organization. The Keep Douglas Beautiful Committee, Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, and City of Douglas held ribbon cuttings for the Little Libraries located at Eastside Park, Wheeler Park, Madison Avenue Park, and Emma Ward Park on December 5 and December 12, 2023. Dr. Brulte will serve as the physician leader to ensure quality care for the Emergency Department patients. Dr. Brulte completed his medical education at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter will alter its hours during the holiday season. The Douglas-Coffee County Animal Shelter will be closing to the public December 22, 2023 through January 1, 2024. The purpose of the closure is to provide maintenance to the facility. A Florida attorney has been convicted at trial for participating in a scheme to illegally obtain funding from a federal COVID-19 small business relief program. Shaquandra Woods, 40, of Jacksonville, Fla., was convicted after a four-day trial in U.S. District Court on a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, said Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The conviction subjects Woods to a statutory penalty of up to 20 years in prison, along with substantial financial penalties and restitution, followed by a period of supervised release upon completion of any prison term.…
Mrs. Suzette L. Oliver, age 58 years old, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at her home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness. She was born in Brooksville, Florida on June 27, 1965, the daughter of Jim and Sue Watson Walker.
