Mr. James Leroy Corbean, age 63, of Douglas passed away Tuesday evening, March 29, 2016, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born February 8, 1953 to the late James L. Corbean, Sr. and the late Mary Ruth Barlow Corbean. Mr. Corbean, a native of Xenia, Ohio, was a Transportation Safety Director with Orgill Corporation. He was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Ellen Dale Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee for 20 plus years. He was a member of the National Private Truck Commission. Tire Amnesty Day will allow citizens of Douglas to dispose of up to eight tires per resident at the City Pole Yard located on S. Pearl Avenue on April 16 from 8 a.m. to noon. Tires are a non-biodegradable, hazardous material that can damage our environment. He was known for his devotion to his family, his community of Ambrose and his firm belief in God. The Coffee County 4-H Shotgun Team had five members to compete on March 19 at the State Sporting Clays Invitational. The Invitational was held at Ocmulgee River Gun Club in Macon. Jordan Davis placed 1st and won the State Invitational by scoring a 97 out of 100 targets in the Senior Division. First year shooter Cliff Ellis placed 3rd in the Junior Division.
