South Georgia State College baseball dropped three games over the weekend against two Florida schools. On Friday, Feb. 26, the Hawks (5-11) played the first of two games against Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Fla. The Hawks fell victim to a walk-off two run blast in the bottom of the ninth inning, handing Central Florida a 20-19 win. For the second year in a row, a South Georgia State College men’s basketball player has been named Player of the Year by the coaches of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). Tyrone Sam, a 6’6” sophomore from Roswell, Ga., was selected for the honor Feb. 27. Sam averaged 25.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game for the Hawks (24-6, 11-5).
