George Earl Harrell, age 63, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Harrell was born on January 28, 1953, in Douglas, GA to Nadavah Davis Harrell and the late Tom Harrell. Survivors include: his beloved companion, Teresa McSwain; mother, Nadavah Harrell; five daughters, Kristel (Rex) Taylor, Loy (Terry) McLendon, Joy Taft, Rebecca (Jason) Sapp and Christie (Jesse) Roberts; three sons, Christopher (Janet) Harrell, Jason (Amanda) McSwain and David (Jessica) McSwain; two sisters, Diane (Vernon) Miller and Tommaline (Robert) Jones; twenty-one grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.…

The Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County announced Friday the organization recently received a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by local farmers Ricky and Ben Smith. The donation will help the organization assist families with children suffering with childhood cancer by providing travel expense back and forth to medical appointments and by providing much needed financial assistance for the payment of necessary household expenses.
