First Academy will host an open house Thursday, March 10 for prospective Pre-K and Kindergarten families at 5:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel. The open house will be for all current three-year-old and Pre-K families, along with any new prospective families in the community. Attendees are asked to park in the Salvation Army parking lot, and the chapel is located directly across the street. An overview of programs offered will be given, along with a question and answer session. The open house should not last longer than 45 minutes. – Submitted

Westside Elementary recently welcomed Georgia author and illustrator Pam Alexander to entertain and inform students of her books of Georgia history and regions. Mrs. Alexander presented to students and faculty during a special assembly on February 18, then to parents later that evening during Family Writing Night. During her presentations, Mrs. Alexander introduced her books of Georgia’s historical places and events as well as her new character, Jeremiah. After both presentations, she allowed students and parents to purchase her books. Teachers and staff also got in on the action and creatively dressed as their favorite book character for the day!…
Ten Coffee Middle School students auditioned in December and made it to perform with an honor band comprised of students from about 20 schools in the band district. They rehearsed February 19-20 with the group and held a concert on February 20. Great job to all of you! – Submitted
