Elder Milton Newsome, Jr. Son of the late Milton Newsome, Sr and Berta Lou Moore was born in Quitman, GA on July 14, 1950. He went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God, on September 18, 2015 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Elder Newsome was a unique man. Mary Ann Robertson, age 86, of Pearson, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Robertson was born on February 19, 1929, in Morganville, NJ to the late Martin Smith and Barbara Long Smith. Mrs. Robertson retired from Sears and Roebuck after 20 years of service. West Green Elementary students and staff celebrated Constitution Day on September 17. During the assembly, kindergarten students led the student body in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. First grade students shared a Constitution booklet they created in class and second grade students read aloud the Preamble to the Constitution. Mrs. Carol Morgan told the students what it meant to be a good citizen and Mr. Arnold Parsons presented pocket Constitutions to our fourth grade students. Dr. Griff Lindsey was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. Dr. Lindsey gave a presentation on the ancient art of falconry and his hobby of hunting with a hawk. The Kiwanis club members enjoyed and appreciated his talk. – Submitted
