The South Georgia Outdoor Expo will be held at Central Square Complex in downtown Douglas August 21 from 1 to 7 p.m. and August 22 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. To kick off the event, organizers are hosting the Wild Game Supper on Thursday, August 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the CE Weir Center. “The Wild Game Supper was delicious last year and is always an added plus to kick off the Outdoor Expo,” says Georgia Henderson, event organizer. The Satilla Regional Library System held its Teddy Bear Picnic recently at the Douglas-Coffee County Public Library. The program began with children getting a snack and drink and then sitting down with their teddy or other stuffed animal they brought to listen to stories. The children talked about their teddy bear or other stuffed animal they brought to the event, such as their names and characteristics about them. The Satilla Regional Library System hosted Mrs. Kate Carpenter, who performed her show Humble Hero Highlights with Mrs. Kate on Wednesday, July 15 at the Douglas and Pearson libraries. The Humble Hero Highlights with Mrs. Kate show was about different ways each of us can be a hero to other people, animals, and the environment. First Academy Headmaster Douglas Wasden reports the school has received its 2014-2015 data from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) assessment that the third and fourth grade students took at the end of April. Students scored at or above the national norm percentile in every subject area. Each subject area was at least 60% or higher for every content. The overall scores for each subject area are made up of six to eight different domains that are calculated to the overall percentage for each subject.
