With September coming to an end, the Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County wrapped up their seventh annual fundraising event on Friday, Sept 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23. Gabrielle Mann, 14 of Douglas, recently traveled to Lawrence, Kansas, to participate in the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics, where she placed 24th in the triple jump. Dennis Dunn, Chief Deputy Attorney General, was in Douglas on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, and was the guest speaker at a Douglas Lions Club meeting. Dunn serves as the primary legal advisor to the Attorney General and oversees attorney casework at the Department of Law. The Hope Outreach Center located in the Oak Park area of Douglas is a non-profit organization that provides services and guidance to the children and families of the community. The center is located in a troubled neighborhood that has the highest rate of criminal activity. According to the center’s mission statement, their main purpose is to give spiritual and moral guidance to young people. Anthony B.
