At last Friday night’s game against Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Citizens Christian Academy honored two alumni, Addy Harris and Jay Vickers, along with the late James Vickers, Lady Patriots’ basketball coach from 1989-1997 whose teams won two state titles and brought home two more state runner-up trophies.
Addy Harris was a member of the Lady Patriots’ basketball team from 2019 to 2024. She leaves an unforgettable legacy at CCA. During her career, she helped lead the Lady Patriots to an outstanding 116-44 overall record, highlighted by four Final Four appearances and two state runners-up. Her impact went far beyond team success; she earned Region 3-AA Player of the Year honors twice and joined the elite 2,000-point scorer club. Addy’s dedication, leadership, and competitive drive set the standard for Lady Patriots basketball and will be remembered for years to come.
Jay Vickers played for the Patriots from 1994-1998 and is a cornerstone of CCA basketball history. He was a key member of the 1997-98 state championship team, which remains the only boys’ high school basketball team to win a state championship in Coffee County. During his career, Jay’s teams captured multiple region championships and his individual excellence earned him All-Region honors in 1997 and 1998, All-State recognition in 1998, and a GISA All-Star selection in 1998. Jay continued his basketball journey at the collegiate level, lettering at Division 1 Mercer University where he competed from 1998-2002. Jay is on the short list of Coffee County basketball players who have played at the Division I level.
Jay’s and Addy’s jerseys will be displayed in CCA’s Hall of Honor, which celebrates athletes who have achieved remarkable success during their time as basketball players at CCA.
CCA also proudly paid tribute to the late Coach James Vickers, Jay’s father, for his lasting impact on CCA and the GISA. Coach Vickers led the Lady Patriots from 1989-1997, guiding his teams to Class AA state titles in 1993 and 1996, a Class AA state runner-up finish in 1992, and Class A state runner-up in 1990, along with multiple Final Four appearances and region championships. In recognition of his remarkable career, Coach Vickers was inducted into the inaugural GIAA/GISA Hall of Fame. His leadership, dedication, and influence continue to resonate throughout CCA and the GISA community.
