Two Coffee Trojans – one current and one former – have made decisions regarding where they will continue their football careers next year. Coffee High senior KJ Debruce has committed to Georgia State while Georgia Military College freshman Tyrese Woodgett will play next year at Georgia Southern. Both schools play in the Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I).
Debruce finished his senior season at Coffee High with 859 yards on 159 carries, a 5.4 yard per carry average. He also averaged 107.4 yards per game and 11 touchdowns in eight games.
Woodgett, who played with the NJCAA’s Georgia Military Bulldogs this year, burst onto the national stage with a remarkable freshman campaign. In 11 games, he tallied 1,079 yards on 117 carries, a 98.1 yard per game average. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns. Woodgett also caught 13 passes for 290 yards and three more touchdowns. Woodgett finished second in the nation in yards per rush, third in rushing touchdowns, fourth in rushing yards, and fifth in yars per game.
Both Georgia State and Georgia Southern play in the Sunbelt Conference and have become fierce in-state rivals.
