People around the country are finding out what family, fans, and friends in Coffee County have known for a long time – Derrick Flowers is good. Really good.
The Coffee County native has been grinding it out on the music scene for a long time and people are starting take notice. One of the hallmarks of country music, maybe the single most important aspect that separates it from other genres, is its authenticity. You can’t fabricate it. You can’t manufacture it. You can’t generate it in the recording studio.
Either you have it or you don’t.
Derrick Flowers has it. Born and raised in Coffee County and a graduate of Coffee High School, Flowers grew up on classic country music. Early on, he developed a profound love and appreciation for its honesty and narrative-focused lyrics. When his own talent began developing, he knew that country music was the platform upon which he would build his career.
Flowers has built a following the old-fashioned way – through playing, touring, and building a fan base one show at the time. It doesn’t matter if it’s a big venue with an audience of thousands or a small acoustic show in small club or rural concert hall – give him a stage, a microphone, and a guitar and he will put on a show you’ll never forget.
He has released several singles with his best performing being “Slow Down,” which has nearly 400,000 streams on Spotify. Among all streaming platforms, Flowers has over 1 million streams. He was also nominated for the Georgia Country Awards Male Artist of the Year for 2025.
The music video for his latest single, “Slow Down,” which was directed by Douglas native and Coffee High graduate Jay Hennesy, was released on YouTube just a few days ago on May 22. Already it is generating a buzz and further expanding Flowers’s fanbase.
The path that Flowers has chosen is not an easy one. But he has embraced the challenges and met them head-on. If you’re a country music fan, remember the name Derrick Flowers. You’re going to be hearing it quite a bit in the very near future.
