For the third time in nine weeks, Christopher Brent Johnson, 44, has been arrested and jailed. This latest incident, which took place on July 24, 2025, involves the most serious allegations of the three incidents. Johnson was released after the first two arrests. This time, however, he remains in jail. On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 2:55 a.m., detectives with the Douglas-Coffee County Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop on Johnson. Alexis Davis, daughter of Charles and Debbie Davis of West Green, has had quite a summer. The third-year law student at Mercer University served in Gov. On July 17, 2025, deputies arrested a man who allegedly used a family member’s debit and credit card without her permission. The incidents happened between June 14-23 and were reported to the sheriff’s office on July 3, 2025. The victim went to the sheriff’s office to report the crimes. A deputy met with her and, according to an incident report, told him Perryn Sinquefield, 30, of Douglas, had used her debit card from Ameris Bank without her permission. A 30-year-old from Broxton was arrested and charged with misuse of 911, along with other charges, after she allegedly called 911 and verbally abused operators after a deputy would not arrest her neighbor. According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, on July 17, 2025, at 6:50 a.m., a deputy responded to the Aden’s on Alabama Street in Broxton to meet with Ashley Brooke Anthony, 30, of Broxton. The plaintiffs who have filed suit seeking an injunction against the proposed 60-house commercial poultry farm in southern Coffee County have notched an early victory. It’s a small victory but it’s a victory nonetheless. Thursday, Judge Kelly Brooks, the presiding judge in the case, issued a 30-day injunction ceasing all physical development of the property. Judge Brooks also issued a second order establishing a date for a hearing on the matter. MaxPreps has released its list of 100 greatest high school athletes of the 21st Century as well as the top 10 Georgia athletes of the 21st Century. Coffee High’s Tyreek Hill made both lists. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver (and likely future Hall of Famer) came in at #41 on the nationwide list (sandwiched between the NBA’s Kevin Love and the WNBA’s Breanna Stewart) and #3 on the Georgia list. Thursday morning, Jon Worrell, who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife, Doris, on September 20, 2006, appeared in court for arraignment and entered a not guilty plea. Worrell was arrested on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Maryville, Missouri, and charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, and conspiracy to commit murder. Amanda Jacobs Coleman, who was convicted of murder in 2019 in connection with the death of two-year-old Brooklyn Aldridge, has been denied a new trial by the Supreme Court of Georgia. Brooklyn died on March 6, 2018, due to severe blunt force trauma to her head. Coleman found Brooklyn deceased at the home she shared with her boyfriend, Ron Lott, in Douglas. Coleman was arrested and charged with murder. A 57-year-old Douglas man who was on probation as a result of a guilty plea stemming from an April 2022 home invasion that resulted in an aggravated assault charge is back in jail after he allegedly stole a payment from the City Hall night drop box. The fight over the proposed 60-house commercial poultry operation on Highway 441 South in Coffee County has been destined to end up in a courtroom battle since the project began. It’s finally happened. On Friday, July 18, 2025, a group of local citizens filed suit in Superior Court against several defendants seeking “an injunction to prevent the continued construction and operation of the Defendants’ commercial chicken operation.” The plaintiffs are listed as Bruce Brooker, Rebecca Temple, LeGrand Roberts, Hamp Adams, and Sims Funeral Homes, Inc., all of whom own property adjoining to or nearby the poultry farm.
