The Citizens Christian Academy Lady Patriots advanced to the Elite 8 state championship bracket tonight with a victory at home. This is the fourth year in a row the Lady Patriots have advanced to the finals. They will take on Georgia Christian School out of Valdosta this Friday at 6 p.m. at the CCA gym. The CCA boys varsity team will be looking to advance to the Elite 8 tomorrow as they travel to Macon to face Windsor Academy.

Coffee County Sheriff’s officials are attempting to locate convicted sex offender Kyle Edward Moore, who faces numerous charges on several active warrants. Moore is described as a white male, approximately, 5’11”, 200 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. His last known address was 42 Raven Ln., Douglas, Georgia. Moore was convicted of statutory rape in Coffee County Superior Court on August 15, 2011. He currently has active warrants for failure to register address change, violation of probation, obstruction, and a local State Court bench warrant. One person was killed early Monday afternoon following a boating accident that occurred in a residential area of Coffee County just east of Douglas. Officials with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office stated deputies and detectives responded to a report of an overturned boat at a pond off Hillsway Drive around 2:30 p.m. After responding to the scene, county fire and rescue personnel located the body of a male subject near the overturned boat. Alma police are searching for a suspect they say lead officers on a high-speed chase over the weekend. The Alma Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle Saturday for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop, leading officers on a chase through the east and south areas of Alma. As the chase turned onto Stock Market Rd., assisting Bacon County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed a child’s car seat in the back of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit. Douglas police have obtained arrest warrants on 30-year-old Brandon Levi Williams following a shooting Friday that claimed the life of 22-year-old Kavozia Walker. Williams is on the run, and authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout. Douglas police officers responded Friday to a call of gunshots fired at 120 Mcneal Dr. They learned Walker had suffered a gunshot wound and had been transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. It’s hard to believe looking at six-year-old Taylor Smith today that, just a few short years ago, this vibrant child was facing the battle of her lifetime. The police department is attempting to identify the individual shown in the video, and they are asking for the community’s help. Coffee County Sheriff’s Office officials released the following information Tuesday morning regarding the recent arrests of two local men suspected of dealing in methamphetamine. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit Detectives and K-9 deputies conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 26 on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck for failure to maintain lane on Leon St. at Smith St. in Douglas. The driver, identified as Brandon Rowland, gave consent to a search of the vehicle and, under the hood of the vehicle, officers discovered a black zip-up bag. One person was hospitalized early Monday evening following a shooting that occurred in the Oak Park community of Coffee County. Sheriff’s deputies responded to an area off Moss St. around 5:30 p.m. The victim, who has not been named, was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center.
