Mr. Jerry Clyde Lott, age 77, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born November 3, 1948, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late D. B. Lott and the late Ruby Chaney Lott. He was a proud United States Army Veteran who honorably served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he became a commercial truck driver and made a career driving for many years for Walmart before his retirement. City officials met with local apartment managers at City Hall on December 3, 2025, to continue discussions focused on enhancing safety in and around apartment complexes within the city limits. Tuesday night was a busy evening for patrol deputies; the Drug Interdiction and Criminal Enforcement Unit, known as DICE; and the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit, known as DCDU, as multiple arrests were made on charges ranging from warrant executions to drug and firearm offenses. Members of DCDU initiated a traffic stop on 30-year-old Antion Dwayne Byrd Jr., of Douglas. Byrde fled the scene on foot, resulting in a brief chase. Tuesday night, deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office ended an armed domestic dispute that took place on Kingwood Road near Broxton. According to a release from the sheriff’s office, Lucio David Osornio, 47, arrived at the home armed with two handguns. He barricaded himself inside the home after making terroristic threats, according to the release. Deputies were able to get everyone out of the home safely and negotiate Osornio’s surrender.
