On the morning of December 7, 2025, a series of incidents began within the City of Douglas and continued across multiple jurisdictions before concluding in Mitchell County with an arrest. According to initial reports, 50-year-old Lamarcus Antoine Dunson committed several criminal acts that included the theft of a Chevy Silverado in the area of Estlee Mercer Road in Coffee County. Dunson then traveled toward Albany where he allegedly carried out a robbery at a convenience store. South Georgia State College (SGSC) has begun the demolition of Floyd Hall, a building that’s been part of the Douglas Campus for more than 50 years. “Floyd Hall represents more than a structure. It represents generations of learning, growth, and community,” said SGSC Interim President Dr. Greg Tanner. “Although time has taken a toll on the building’s safety and functionality, its significance remains. Charleston Southern had 12 players earn All-Conference accolades this fall following the conclusion of the regular season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The total number of honorees is the most the Buccaneers have had in a season since they had 13 in 2016. Anthony Paulk was selected as the conference’s Defensive Freshman of the Year. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Wildlife Resources Division has received notification of a preliminary positive Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) test result for a deer in Atkinson County.
