In their first season of flag football, the Lady Patriots came into the state playoffs as a #6 seed and matched up with the 2024 GIAA state runner up and #3 seeded Georgia Christian Generals. After losing 12-0 earlier in the season, the CCA defense locked in and squashed the big plays that gave GCS success earlier in the season. On Thursday, November 13, 2025, officials with the City of Douglas, the Douglas Police Department, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department met with several local apartment property managers to discuss strategies for enhancing safety and reducing criminal activity in and around apartment complexes within the city limits. The meeting served as a forum to gather input from property managers as the City works to develop a new ordinance focused on crime prevention in multi-family housing areas. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding the search for James Dustin Cribbs, age 36, who had been actively sought in connection to multiple auto thefts and a burglary in Coffee County. Over the past two weeks, Cribbs is believed to have stolen five vehicles, including a motorcycle. On November 18, 2025, Cribbs was apprehended by the Waycross Police Department after detectives with the CCSO DICE Unit were alerted to his possible whereabouts. On November 16, 2025, agents with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction & Criminal Enforcement Unit (DICE) successfully located and apprehended William Micajah Batten, who had repeatedly fled from law enforcement in recent months in an effort to avoid arrest. Batten, who had previously been charged and sentenced on felony drug offenses, allegedly violated the conditions of his parole in late 2024. As a result, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for his arrest. On November 15, 20205, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extra zone patrol on Hickory Ridge Road in response to recent community concerns regarding suspected trespassing at a vacant property. Citizens reported that individuals may have been entering the home and staying overnight. During the patrol, deputies checked the property located at 210 Hickory Ridge Road. After more than a year of closure due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, the City of Douglas is pleased to announce the official reopening of Wheeler Park. While the park may look different, it remains a cherished space for recreation and community gathering.
