A 33-year-old who was riding a bicycle near a traffic stop was stopped for not having lights on his bike. He was subsequently found to have suspected methamphetamine on his person and, as a result, was arrested and jailed. A report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office states that officers were conducting a traffic stop around 8 p.m. on March 23, 2026 at the intersection of Ramblewood and Cottonwood roads. On March 25, 2026, at around 1:50 p.m., Douglas police officers responded to an auto accident at the intersection of East Baker Highway and South Gaskin Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered that one of the drivers had fled the scene of the crash. According to incident reports from the Douglas Police Department, both vehicles were traveling south on South Gaskin Avenue. Cambree Isaacson went 2-4 with four RBI and a run while Erin Robinson was 2-5 with an RBI and two runs in the South Georgia State College Hawks’ 12-4 win over the Andrew College Tigers Wednesday on the SGSC campus. Earlier this week while assisting with the Brantley County wildfire, a dog found a couple of Douglas firefighters and took advantage of their generosity. And everyone was perfectly fine with it. Paxton Gilbreth and Stephen Wheeler, firemen with the Douglas Fire Department, were fighting a fire in a portion of the Brantley County wildfire when, out of nowhere, a brown and white bulldog came up to them. The Citizens Christian Academy Patriots split two games with different GIAA Class 4A opponents on Monday, defeating the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings 17-6 then falling to the Calvary Christian Knights 3-2 in extra innings. The first game was typical of how many of the Patriots’ games have gone this year. CCA jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings then scored five in the fourth and eight in the sixth. Xavier Devon McFatten, 36, of Douglas, has been in the Coffee County Jail since April 21, 2026, after he was arrested and charged with bestiality and aggravated animal cruelty after he allegedly killed a pit bulldog while attempting to have sex with it. According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, officers arrived at an East Gordon Street address on April 21, 2026, at around 12:10 p.m. in reference to a possible animal cruelty incident. The South Georgia State College Hawks softball team proved to be a gracious host to the Georgia Highlands Chargers last weekend. Maybe a little too gracious. The Chargers swept a three-game series over the Hawks on Friday and Saturday, winning Friday’s doubleheader 5-2 and 10-4.
