The Coffee Trojans’ 2025 season ended in the first round of the playoffs with a 31-14 loss to the Sequoyah Chiefs in Canton. Coffee finished the season with a 4-7 record. The Chiefs took a first-quarter lead courtesy of a Will Rajecki touchdown. Coffee’s Bobby Reynolds tied the score with a touchdown of his own with 6:55 left in the second quarter. Coffee Trojans senior infielder/RHP Ben Fussell will continue his post-high school playing career in Macon. On National Signing Day this week, Fussell signed a letter of intent with the Mercer Bears. Fussell was an All-Region and All-State selection as a sophomore and junior, and region Co-Player of the Year last season. He led the Trojans with a .450 batting average. He recorded 50 hits — 10 doubles, five triples, four home runs, and 21 RBI. He also threw 38 innings with a 3-5 record and a 4.24 ERA. He struck out 34 and walked 29. Fussell will join his former…

The Georgia High School Association has assigned its member schools to regions for the 2026-2028 school years. The Coffee Trojans’ competitive situation stays relatively unchanged. The GHSA has moved from six classifications to seven. The Trojans will be in Region 2-6A, which is very similar to its current region and classification. Coffee has been playing in Region 2-5A; under the current system, 5A is the second-highest classification in the state. Under the new alignment, the Trojans will remain in the second-highest classification in the state. The results of last Tuesday’s municipal elections in Coffee County will stand – unless candidates or citizens file legal challenges to individual voters. Monday morning, Coffee County election officials conducted a hand audit of the results from last week’s election. The numbers the audit revealed match the election night results. The election featured some uncharacteristically close results, particularly in the Nicholls mayor’s race. Incumbent Tamon Frost defeated challenger Ronnie Burch by one vote, 159-158. Richard Justin Moore, 33, of Douglas, was arrested on November 2, 2025, after a Douglas police officer spotted him standing in a yard on South Chester Avenue and recognized him as having active warrants through the police department. According to a police department incident report, the officer was patrolling in the area when he saw Moore in the yard. He spoke to Moore and went to arrest him. A Douglas man who was not allowed on the property of a local business was arrested after he took his girlfriend to work there on the afternoon of October 31, 2025. According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, Rogelio Lopez, 40, of Douglas, had been trespassed from a restaurant. The report says that Lopez was a former employee of the business. Around 5 p.m. on October 31, he took his girlfriend to work there and left. A 29-year-old Douglas man was arrested in Ambrose after he allegedly knocked on doors screaming for help. Witnesses stated that the man, identified as Cube Contario Evans, 29, of Douglas, knocking on doors of residents on Dennis Harper Road around 4 p.m. on November 2, 2025. Witnesses reported that he would knock on doors and scream, “Help me, they’re coming after me!” Authorities responded to the scene and attempted to detain Evans. An inmate at Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls was released from prison on November 2, 2025, and immediately arrested by deputies on charges out of Alabama. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, at 4:17 p.m. on November 2, Arsean Ross, 22, of Columbus, was taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He was wanted out of Phenix City, Alabama (Russell County), on several charges, including failure to appear on April 17, 2025.
